Induction Project

The purpose of this drawing was to help learn and understand the shape of the skull and muscles in the face. This is because knowing the structure of the face and how it is made up can help with not only understanding the proportions of the face in drawing whether it be digitally or with pencil but also to help proportion a face in 3D modelling on either MAYA or Mudbox.
The purpose of this was to draw a portrait from an image in a grid to practice the correct proportion, sizing and spacing within the portrait and how to use the grid correctly.
A self portrait that was produced on Adobe Photoshop. To construct my image I used a reference photo of myself (Shown below). With this image I uploaded it to Photoshop and added a grid layer to break down the image. I opened a new page and then implemented the same grid layer to start my self portrait painting. Once that was done I locked that layer so i couldn't draw over it< then creating a new layer for my outline. Using the grid it helped me draw the outline more accurately  and in proportion. Once done, the next step was to create new layers; One for skin, one for clothing, one for hair, one for eyes and one for the mouth. Once I had created all my different layers I moved the outline layer so it would be behind my new layers that would go on top. To construct each layer I had adjusted the brush settings and opacity to about 50% thus to help me build up the different shade and tones in my image a bit at a time until I had put in the definition needed to show the more shadowed areas, textures and tones to complete this image.

The photo I used of myself as a reference image that i used to work with and to show the comparison between my digitally created image and a photo taken from a phone.
